Error code 66a on updating .net Framework

Hi,

I am using an Intel core2duo processor on an Intel board with 4gb ram and a Nvidia 9800gt graphics card installed.

The operating system I am running is Windows vista and recently.

I was updating my Microsoft.Net Frame work but I was unable to do so. Whenever I tried to update it gives me an error whose code is “66a”.

I tried searching this over the internet and found lots of problems similar to mine, but there was no solution given for the problem.

I’d be grateful if someone can help me in this matter as I need this update to run an application.

Error code 66a on updating .net Framework

Hello! These are the different methods of solving this problem:-

• First of all remove the previous version of the Framework form your computer and then reinstall it. Because the older version maybe corrupted of damage.

• For this Click on the start button and select eh control panel.

• After this open the Add or Remove Programs.

• Then click on the currently installed programs and uninstall all versions of the .Net Framework that are already installed on your PC.

• After this restart your PC.

• Then you should download the latest version of the .Net Framework and install it and then you need not to upgrade this version because it is latest version.

The other method is as under

• First of all log on to your computer as administrator and have all the admin rights.

• Then click on the star button and select the All Programs.

• After this select the windows install cleanup icon.

• The cleanup dialog will be appear and after this you should select all the related files about eh .NET FRAMEWORK and delete them all.

• After deleting all the files then restart your computer.

• Then log on again and install the .Net Framework and try to update it will work.

Error code 66a on updating .net Framework

You did not mention what version of Microsoft .NET Framework you are updating to.

Windows Vista is already bundled with Microsoft .NET Framework 3.0 that means if you want to upgrade its version, it must be newer than 3.0. And you also need to know if your Windows Vista is a 32-bit or a 64-bit version because there are updates that require different versions.

If you wish to upgrade to Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5, you can download it. Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 Family Update for Windows Vista x86, and Windows Server 2008 x86 supports these operating systems:

• Windows Server 2008.
• Windows Vista.
