Avira AntiVir Premium error message during the installation process

Installation of Mail and Web Protection wouldn’t follow through on my system that runs a PGP Desktop with 9.x and 10.x.

The error message during the installation process of Avira AntiVir Premium indicates that it is caused by the failed installation of LSP.

 

Setup of Avira Antivirus Premium 2012

 

The installation of the LSP failed. Mail Protection

and Web Protection therefore

cannot be installed. We recommend that you repair the

LSP stack and then reinstall Mail Protection and

Web Protection via the user-defined

installation.

 

                                             OK

It recommends that I should “repair the LSP stack and then reinstall Mail Protection and Web Protection via the user-defined installation.” How can I find out which user it is referring to?

What are the main reasons for the failed installation of LSP?

Avira AntiVir Premium error message during the installation process

Hi,

LSP stands for Layered Service Provider. I think a LSP based program is currently running with your computer.

You have also installed earlier the Web Guard or Mail Guard software.

So to recover this problem you need to reset your existing LSP first. For this you have to open the command prompt through Run (cmd) then enter the code netsh winsock reset for Windows XP.

For Windows Vista/ Windows 7 you have to go to Start – Programs – Accessories – Command Prompt and select Run as administrator and then enter the code netsh winsock reset. Restart your computer.

Now Avira Antivirus Premium 2012 will install smoothly.
