Unable to start Tomcat5 –

Hi,

I am using Windows 7 Home Basic, and have installed Apache Tomcat 5.5 according to the process. Every time when I start it by clicking "Monitor Tomcat" I will get the following error:

Access Denied.

Unable to open the service 'Tomcat5'

I have attached the error. Please explain how to solve it.

Unable to start Tomcat5 –

Hello Rubyjmorales,

You can see this Forum post to fix your issue: Unable to Open Service Tomcat5 Fix. The fourth post has the answer you need. Also another way to fix this problem would be to either run the service as Administrator by right clicking the .exe and clicking "Run as Administrator". Some users have also said that installing Apache Tomcat 5.5 in Program Files (x86) has solved their issue.

Unable to start Tomcat5 –

Hello Rubyjmorales,

The error you are getting can be resolved in few steps. Please follow the steps mentioned below:

1. Click on Start menu

2. Go to All programs.

3. Click on Startup.

4. Select Start Tomcat monitor -> properties

5. Select shortcut tab -> Advanced

6. Select Run as Administrator and click OK button.

This will resolve your problem.
