How to install Win 7 without optical drive?

I have a system that I built which I, conveniently, did not install an optical drive in as i'd like to keep the case as nice looking as it can and an optical drive will just make it a bit ugly. I also don't want to spend money on an external optical drive as it costs more than it useful especially these days. I was wondering, is there is a way to install Windows 7 on my computer using a usb flash drive/thumb drive?

How to install Win 7 without optical drive?

Yes! There is way to install windows 7 to your computer even without an optical drive. Its often use to some computer that don’t gave cd-rom to accept optical drive.

You can download a program like WinToFlash. WinToFlash is software that transfers windows operating system such as Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows 2003, Windows 7, and Windows 2008 from CD or DVD to a flash drive. In short you can install windows operating system by using installed windows operating system into flash drive by using WinToFlash Software. But WinToFlash software requires system requirement that need to meet by your computer. You can search the internet or Google it.

How to install Win 7 without optical drive?

Installation of windows 7 using USB or Pen drive:

Step1: First format the pen drive or USB drive in NTFS format.

Step2:  Right click on command prompt from start menu and select run as administrator.

Now you need to use the following commands:

Step3: “Disk part” and click on enter (This is to open disk partition program) .

Step4: “List Disk” and click on enter (Shows list of drives).

Step5: From the shown disk list note down the disk number of your pen drive.

Step6: Type “SELECT DISK” Number that you noted from drive list.

Step7:  Type “CLEAR”.

Step8: Type “CREATE PARTITION PRIMARY” AND CLICK ENTER.

Step9:  Type SELECT PARTITION 1 (Assuming your USB drive is 1) and press enter.

Step10:  Type ACTIVE and press enter.

Step11: Type FORMAT FS = NTFS and click enter.

Step12: Type ASSIGN click enter.

Step13:  Type EXIT and disk partition program will be completed.

Step14:  Now insert the windows 7 installation DVD and to your DVD drive.

Step15:  Assume DVD drive as G and pen drive  as I.

Step16: Now type G:CD BOOT.

Step17: Now type TSECT.EXE/NT60 I: date your USB drive with bootmgr code.

Step18: Copy all the content from the window 7 DVD to your pen drive.

Step19:  Plug your pen drive to your pc and restart the system.

Step20: Now enter the BIOS system accordingly by pressing delete key.

Step21: Select the pen drive as the first boot drive.

Step22: Save the settings in BIOS and restart and you will be able to Install windows 7 using pen drive.
