Using a hard disk enclosure 24/7

I recently acquired a hard disk enclosure for a very old hard disk. I managed to install the hard disk inside successfully. Actually, I planned to use this device as a back-up server for my home business. Given that it is for business, It is expected to run 24/7. Will this have any effect on the hard disk? Can it withstand such usage?

Using a hard disk enclosure 24/7

Hi,

You can use your hard disk 24/7 for your business work but for some time you have to give a little bit rest to your hard disk, so it will work well in the future. Give at least 1 hour of break, after every 12 hrs of usage. By doing this, your hard disk’s life will have a long life. If you use your hard disk 24/7 in a day, it can easily be corrupted within few weeks. So, trying to avoid this you should give your hard disk a 1-hour rest after 12 hrs daily.
