First, try searching your system drive for that file to verify if it is missing or not. The file “twain_32.dll” is located in “C:WINDOWSsystem32dllcache” and in “C:WINDOWS”. You should be able to find that DLL file in those two locations. If the file is not there then probably it got deleted by accident. If it is there but you get the error on your program, it is probably damaged.

There are two ways to fix the file. First is to run SFC to restore the original file and remove the corrupted file. Second is to download the DLL file from the net. You should try first running SFC on your computer. To do this, click Start, Run, and then type without quotes “cmd” then press Enter.

In the command prompt, type without quotes “sfc /scannow” then press Enter. This method scans all protected system files on your computer and replaces incorrect versions with correct Microsoft versions. This is the best approach to your problem. This method requires your Windows setup CD. When you are prompted, insert your Microsoft Windows setup CD on your CD/DVD drive.

In case you don’t have your Windows setup CD, you can download the file from the web. Download the DLL file from Twain_32.dll File Download. On the download page, select the MANUAL FIX. The file is available in two versions: version 1.7.1.3 and version 1.7.1.1. To make sure, download both files. Once downloaded, unpack one of the ZIP files.

Copy the DLL file to the installation folder of the application requesting it. In your case, copy the file to the installation folder of Vegas Pro. After this, restart Vegas Pro and see if there is still an error. If this doesn’t work, copy the file to the locations I mentioned above and also to “C:WINDOWSsystem32” then restart Vegas Pro.
