Can I download iOS 8 on my iPhone 5?

My iPhone 5 is not showing any particular problems, but I would like to be up to date at least in software, since I am not planning on buying a new iPhone 6. I was thinking of upgrading to iOS 8, but I am not sure if my iPhone 5 would be able to handle it.

Does anybody know if it will slow down? Or if the battery life would be significantly reduced?

Sure!! You can anytime upgrade your iPhone 5 to the latest release of iOS 8 operating system. It is official and fully compatible.

But yes, that’s true that initially, lots of users complained about the battery draining and overheating of the handset just after they upgraded them to iOS 8. But now this problem has been resolved. In fact iOS 8 supports an app which can alert and tell you about the processes and an app which are draining your battery abnormally. I will suggest you to defiantly go for it.
