I came across a rather strange named file on my computer called wsdetect dll. What is this file doing on this computer? Is it necessary for me to keep it? This file seems suspicious to me. Is it safe?

What Is Wsdetect Dll File Doing On My Computer

Dll files (Dynamic Link Library) are used by Windows for running a number of programs on your computer. These are shared files and therefore these are not associated with the program or software that installs them on the computer in the first place.

Wsdetect.dll, in particular, is a dll file associated with Java Platform by Sun Microsystems. This is a non-system process therefore, removing this file will not affect the functioning of the operating system. Removing this, however, can have an impact on the programs that Windows runs using this file. Thus, removing this file may lead to some programs not working properly.
