Hello, I am a user of both laptops and notebooks, but I don’t understand what is the difference between laptop and notebook. In today’s world, there are laptops which look exactly like a notebook and similarly notebooks which looks like laptop. What I want to know is what is the difference between them in technical terms.
Ever Wondered What Is The Difference Between Laptop And Notebook? Here’s The Answer.
You rightly said that now-a-days, many devices are made similar at the cost of technology advancements. But there are some key differences which will persist between a laptop and a notebook.
- A laptop was designed as a replacement for desktop computers. So, it contains all of the functionality of a PC on a smaller screen. Contrary to this, a notebook’s key feature is to provide basic functionalities of a computer on a notebook sized device. So, it lacks proper computer functionality but is quite smaller to carry in a bag or so.
- Laptops usually weigh around 4 to 8 pounds whereas notebooks weigh even less than 5 pounds.
- Laptops were designed to replace the desktops completely and they do possess the ability for that but notebooks were designed for personal usage more than business usage.
