Just curious.Is it possible to set up an active directory without DNs?If yes, then how do I do it?

I think that Active Directory will not work without DNS services. A domain with no DNS zone is equal to a broken Active directory. Users can't log onto the domain and will not be able to access resources through the domain and so on. I think you need to read more about how DNS and Active Directory are integrated together. As a help, please try to read this article about "How DNS support for Active Directory Works" by Microsoft library page in this link: https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc759550

It's mentioned in the page that Active Directory uses DNS as its domain controller location mechanism and leverages the namespace design of DNS in the design of the Active Directory domain names.
