There are lots of key functionalities in CISCO hierarchical model. I will give you the main functionalities form all of them.

 

1.   Desktop Layer

2.   VLAN ( Virtual LAN work group definition)

3.   User access to local available resources

4.   Using virtual access list or filter lists to follow policies implemented at the distribution layer.

The main key features of Cisco hierarchical Network are 

1. Backbone (Core layer) 
2. VLANS (Core Layer) 
3. FDDI (Core Layer) 
4. Fast Ethernet (Core Layer) 
5. Routing (Distribution Layer) 
6. WAN (Distribution Layer) 
7. Switching (Access layer) 
8. Continued Access Control (Access Layer) 
9. Workgroup Connectivity (Access Layer) 

These are the key features of three different layers of Cisco hierarchical network model.
