Time machine of Mac Mini not working after upgrade

The time machine of my Mac Mini was working alright but after I upgraded from OS 10.8.5 to Mavericks OS 10.9, something has gone wrong and I am not able to access the time machine. Please tell me what the cause can be and suggest me what to do about it.

Time machine of Mac Mini not working after upgrade

Well, what you do is just delete your pre-Mavericks backups. You can use Disk Utility and reformat the backup drive and then create a new one. It seems that Mavericks is trying to reformat the older backup to 10.9 format and thus depending on the size of the old backup it is taking a bit time to perform this.
