Right click on My computer and select Properties. Go to Hardware and select Device Manager. Here right click on your Webcam and click on Upgrade drivers.

Even if you have a perfectly working webcam but the device’s driver is corrupt, your camera will not work. The device needs a perfectly working driver or camera software before it can fully operate.

Without the driver or camera software, your webcam is useless and seems broken because it is not functioning. To fix the problem, try reinstalling the webcam software on your computer. The driver for your webcam is usually contained in a CD that ships together with your machine. To reinstall the driver, click “Start”, “Control Panel”, then “Add or Remove Programs”.

Go along the list and look for your webcam software. Select it then click “Remove” or “Uninstall” and then restart your laptop. After booting, insert the drivers CD that ships with your laptop and run the installer for your webcam. On the other hand, if you no longer have the CD, visit the laptop manufacturer’s website and download the driver there.
