Hi, I want to know the importance of securing wireless network with WPA or WEP Keys. What are the things that you already learn on doing it? Please send me your thoughts and suggestions.

  Why protect your wireless connection? It is pretty simple actually. We need to secure our wireless connections to keep unwanted users from accessing your wireless connection without your permission. Well, we may think that what they are only after our wireless internet connection; however, what we are thinking is completely wrong. They can do a lot of things that may abuse us without us knowing.

Well, through simply using or modifying our connection, they are stealing bandwidth; thereby, reducing or slowing down our internet connection. Besides that, they could steal our wireless connection account. They could alter and change the settings of our account causing it to manipulate the management of our connection.

Worse than that, they can infiltrate your accounts for websites do not use SSL encryption like Facebook and Twitter. These reasons may not be enough, but it is better to be safe than sorry.

Why use WPA? Well, WPA is the latest security feature. It is more safe and secure to use WPA than WEP encryption. WEP is easier to bypass than WPA.

You don’t need to have reasons why you should protect it. Just protect it to avoid from future mishaps.

Hello,

The importance of securing your network with WPA or WEP is to protect your network from intruders. WPA and WEP also differs in some ways. WEP is a basic encryption method offering two levels of encryption: 104/128-bit is stronger than 40/64-bit encryption. WEP is not as secure as WPA/WPA2 Encryption but the good thing about WEP is that since it is called as the universal security all devices works with WEP even the older ones WPA stands for WiFi protected access which is a security standard stronger than WEP encryption. You can select the algorithm you want to use, TKIP or AES. (AES is a stronger encryption method than TKIP.) I would suggest that you use WPA2 personal security with AES encryption for your network to be safer.
