Windows Installer Error 1620

This installation package could not be opened. Contact the application vendor to verify that this is a valid Windows Installer package.

How can i fix this error

Windows Installer Error 1620 help

You will need to make sure that the account that you are logged on with has administrative privileges because the error may be occurring since you are trying to run the setup with an account that does not have administrative privileges. DO the following:

• Click Start on your computer and then expand the arrow at shut down.
• Choose Restart.
• The computer will restart, and then you will have to log on with the administrative account so that you can be able to install applications.

In case the problem persists, then go to the control panel, and then click on Administrative Tools. Next click on services and then locate the Windows Installer. You will need to highlight the line and then right click and then click Start so as to start the service.

Windows Installer Error 1620 help

This error may be due to the following reasons:

1. You are trying to install an application that is not valid from Windows.

2. Your Windows may be damaged, outdated or corrupted.

3. Your computer has a registry database problem.

To fix this:

1. Re-download the software that you are trying to install.

2. Download the Windows Installer Cleanup Utility and then let it run to check and solve if there are any Windows problems.And then restart your computer.

3. Download a registry cleaner from the link.

Windows Installer Error 1620 help

The main purpose or function of the Windows Installer is for installation, program removal or uninstalling software, and maintenance. To use the Windows Installer, you don’t actually need to install it on your computer. It is already included in Microsoft Windows. Sometimes you accidentally encounter an error with Windows Installer when installing an application on your computer. If you are not using the latest Service Pack and you encounter an error with Windows Installer during an installation, try installing the latest Windows Installer.

If you are using Windows XP, the last and latest Service Pack available is Service Pack 3 and it ships with Windows Installer 3.1. If you encounter an error with Windows Installer during an installation, try upgrading your Windows Installer to version 4.5 which I think is the latest and last compatible version for Microsoft Windows XP since its support has already been terminated.

Visit Windows Installer 4.5 Redistributable to download. Once downloaded, run the installer to upgrade the existing Windows Installer on your computer. If your Microsoft Windows is 64-bit or you are not sure whether your operating system is 32-bit or 64-bit, visit Windows Installer 4.5 is Available to automatically detect your operating system and download the correct version of the installer.
