Windows Firewall can’t change some of my settings due to virus

Hi. Few days ago an Adware Virus has been detected by my personal computer. I’ve been advised to scan my PC and clean it with my antivirus software.

Since then, I’ve got some message from Verizon Internet Security Suite by McAfee and telling me that my Firewall is not activated. I checked on the Firewall settings and found out that the firewall is off.

I also been receiving this on my Taskbar, but I did not notice it since I am prioritizing on how I can eliminate the virus. When I turn it on, it instantly turned off again.

The problem continues and appeared with error “Windows Firewall can’t change some of your settings.

Error code 0x80070424.”  I think the virus hit my Firewall settings and causing it to stop functioning.

How can I fix it now?

I don’t prefer to reformat my computer.

Windows Firewall can’t change some of my settings due to virus

The way to resolve that problem will be to scan for adware on your computer and remove them as follows:

1. First you will need to go to the following site: 
2. And then you will click Download Now, and then install the application.
3. After installation is complete, you will need to go to your desktop and then you will double click the Microsoft Safety Scanner icon. 
4. After that you will need to click the box next to Accept all terms of the preceding license agreement, and then click Next.
5. Next you will need to click Quick Scan, and then click Next. The Microsoft Safety Scanner will start scanning your computer and remove all malware that will be found.
6. Thereafter, you will need to click the Start button, and then you will type Windows Firewall in the Search programs and files box.
7. Thereafter you will need to choose Windows Firewall, and then click Turn Windows Firewall on or off.
8. Choose the Turn on Windows Firewall option for each network location, and then click OK.
