I could not start Battle Nation. It always failed with error “Cannot connect to the game server, check your firewall settings or try again from a different location.” Anyone knows how to solve this?

There are lots of possibilities to remove such sort of thing.
1. Check you antivirus and uncheck traffic block may be your ant virus is taking the connection as a virus and not allowed to connect you with the game.
2. Check your browser setting and make it confirm that your proxy setting are right may be due to proxy setting it is not allowed you to connect through the game.
3. Check you IP address may the IP address sending to the game server is not recognizing so change your IP address by refreshing your modem or you device through which you are connected.
Unfortunately, this question should end here and further answers will be meaningless because in September 28, 2016, just two months ago, the game “Battle Nations” was officially shut down. The discontinuance of the Battle Nations service was announced on June 28, 2016.
On July 28, 2016, all in-app purchases had been turned off and all existing accounts will be credited with 1 million Nanopods which they can spend for the next 60 days when the game will be finally shut down. Battle Nations is a turn-based freemium strategy game developed and published by Z2Live. King Digital Entertainment acquired Z2 Live Inc. for $150 million announced on February 2015.
After the acquisition, Battle Nations was pulled from the Steam platform on April 16, 2015. Nanopods is a rare resource in Battle Nations which you can use to buy units, buildings, research new unit attacks, speed up building and units formation, and buy resources that you don’t have.
