I have a Nvidia Geforce 8600GT 512mb graphics card, and yet I am not able to play Sims 3.

Whenever I start the game, it says "no video card detected" error message.

The Sims 3

Unable to start game

Device 0 cannot run this title.

No supported video graphics card detected. Please check your system hardware.

I just can't understand this at all.

Help me.

  1. You must try updating your drivers or installing them if you don't have any. Without drivers, the graphics card is nothing. Same with most of the hardware. You must download them from the computer manufacturer's website. A driver is a code that integrates the software with the hardware.
  2. You could also try uninstalling and then reinstalling the game. That must help sometimes.Delete all the folders and files associated with it. Then do a fresh install.
  3. Run directx and direct draw tests. You can do that in dxdiag and then check for some issues there.

Cheers.

  • This error usually occurred when you are trying to run or use the Sims 3  and while connected with other monitor, unplug the other monitor so you can be able to use or run the Sims 3.
  • Try to check the compatibility of your operating system and the Nvidia Geforce 8600GT graphics card with the requirement s for Sims 3
  • If you are using Sims 3 on your laptop, check if your laptop has installed  the video card.
  • You can also try to uninstall the anti-virus on your computer device, Norton and Avg usually interfere with Sims 3.
  • Always update your video card and  Sims 3 perfectly run with Window mode.
