Can anyone please explain the meaning of macros in database?

I am trying to create certain functions with the use of Microsoft Access, however I have read somewhere that there are a lot of limitations when using macros.

However I am taking this with a grain of salt, and I would like to better understand it before deciding whether to go with it or not.

What is the meaning of macros in database, and what are the advantages of using it via MS Access?

Hi Lark,

The Microsoft Access macros are another tool that has access to automate tasks such as updates, show reports, etc.

Macros are limited to environments that are to be used:
 
Desktop DataBase: using macros and VBA code, being aware if this database is shared or for a single user
Web Database: can only be used macros of access (without VBA code) for compatibility and security.
The advantages are saving time, improving functionality, etc
