I have a dvd reader and writer which can read and write data from dvd disks. It is a Samsung dvd discs eraser and R/W. But a few minutes ago I have tried to erase data from a re-write able dvd disk it shows the data can't be erased. What can I do now. Can I erase the data in other ways.

I don't know which software are you using. I recommend Nero or Ashampoo. I'll show you steps for deleting files using Nero.
Open Nero, insert your rw dvd. Now wait for reading process to complete. Then go to Recorder and then click on Erase RW Disc option. Now follow on screen instructions and you will be able to delete files from your rw dvd. I warn you that you can't write and erase infinite times, every disc has it's write/delete limit.
