It sounds as though your hard drive might be failing physically. Try performing a scan from the following website: http://hddscan.com/ and make note of any errors.
It might be in your best interest to perform a backup of your hard drive, of your pertinent documents, and take your computer in to have the hard drive replaced or check out by a technician.
If your hard drive does experience a physical failure, it shouldn't take a competent technician much time to get you up and running again, especially with a backup.
