I am doing an open source project with my friends.

I need to do a network monitoring to outlook my project. So I think the gnu network printer monitor is better to do this.

Is it possible or please can you suggest me any other way to do network monitoring?

But as you say you are in a project with your friends, my opinion for you firstly try to develop a network monitoring system yourself.
