Final Cut Pro X media error

Hi experts,

Why am I getting this error message when I try to add transitions in Final Cut Pro X.

Now I am unable to work on my projects anymore.

How can I fix this annoying error message?

Any idea would be appreciated.

Thanks.

There is not enough extra media beyond clip edges to create the transition.

Do you want to overlap (ripple trim) your media to create the transition?

This will decrease the total duration of your project.

Hi,
For making a transition you must have extra handles or footage (unused portions) at the start or end of the clips. Now you work around. Do not try to drag the transition to the timeline. Try selecting the starting edit point of the clip and hit cmd-T to add a cross dissolve, which goes with the first clip.

Also try adding some light effects from the transitions tab, after that you can replace the light with a normal cross dissolve. Check it again, if this works.
If you are still facing errors, then try the steps below:
1. Goto preferences and editing.
2. Inside transitions, make duration at 100 seconds or above.

See if this helps.
