Hello,

There are many differences between MOV and MP4 files. Both of them can contain video and audio with different encoding and algorithm. These file formats are ideal for file size.

MOV file system was developed by Apple for QuickTime player. When it was unleashed from the lab, it came up with lots of advantages.

Later on, MP4 file system was developed based on the MOV file system. It was made as an industry standard, it’s compatible with all system environment. In this case, MOV files were lagging behind. In many case, playing such files would generate problems.

Both of them provide the same quality of video and audio. But MP4 files are more popular and easier to enjoy in all environment as it was developed as industry standard, so provided much flexibility.

In many systems, it’s noticeable that MP4 files are more recommended and better supported than MOV files.

But it’s possible to have MOV files converted into MP4 and vice versa. There are many free tools that can do this task. Some of the best tools are Any Video Converter, Format Factory etc. But it’s the best to work with MP4 files as they’re supported by most system environments.
