Dear Marie,

Magnet damages the directory structure of the memory card along with the information contained in it. However, you're still able to recover images using professional recovery program (not freeware) like one from Stellar Phoenix. Download software from here:

Download & install the software on PC and connect memory card externally. Use recovery option like Advanced Recovery (also called signature based recovery).

Remember, you may not able to use the memory card as it'll of no more use.

Post back if you need further help or suggestions.

Patriot offers several different products like RAM or memory modules, USB flash drives, microSD cards, and others. If you have one of their USB flash drives and it got corrupted, the only way to recover your files from the flash drive is to fix the error on the drive. The one thing that’s preventing you from accessing the contents of the drive is the error on the drive.

Patriot USB flash drive

That’s why you need to fix that error, to gain access again. Try downloading PC Tools Performance Toolkit. Follow the instructions to download and unpack and then install it. Once installed, plug your Patriot USB flash drive to one of the USB ports and start PC Tools. Go to “Recovery” tab and click “Repair Drives.”

On the next screen, select your USB flash drive among the list of drives then select “Surface Scan” in the options. Click “Start” to start checking the drive for errors. Depending on the outcome of the test, if the problem on the drive is repairable, copy all your files from the flash drive to your hard drive after the test.

But if the problem on the flash drive is permanent or irreparable, salvage whatever files you can recover from the flash drive.
