Cannot open .zip file Application not found

Hi,

I think my computer is having some sort of problem in handling the zip files. Whenever I try to open a zip file, I get an error message. It is not extracting the files, ends with an error. I have AVG antivirus to protect the computer, it is not blocking the zip file. What else might be the issue? How can I solve this error? Please help. Thanks.

Cannot open .zip file Application not found

You cannot open a ZIP file if you don’t have a file extractor or compressor installed on your computer such as WinZIP, WinRAR, 7-Zip, Winace, and others. Microsoft Windows doesn’t recognize ZIP files and it can’t open them. You need to install a program designed for compressed files like the ones I mentioned.

If you already have for example WinZIP and you still can’t open a ZIP file, make sure WinZIP is associated to files using the ZIP format or to files that use the “.ZIP” extension. If the support for ZIP format is not activated, you will not be able to open the ZIP file in Windows Explorer.

You can only open it when you run WinZIP and open the ZIP file from there. If using WinZIP or WinRAR gives you very limited functions because you are using a trial version, use 7-Zip instead. Visit 7-Zip 9.20 Download to download.
