The application cannot be started: lsm.dll is missing

Hi all,

I use the Epson Perfection 1660Photo.Clicking the shortcut Epson "SMART PANNELL, I get this message:" This application failed to start because, Ism.dll not be found. Reinstalling the application may fix this problem. After removing the program, and at its relocation, a warning issued to me: "Can notlauch E: ePRINT French setup.exe".

I click OK … still resettlement continues … like this: "Completing the Installation".

But the problem remains. I can not use my scanner.

The application cannot be started: lsm.dll is missing

That is a registry issue that you have there. These kind of errors are usually caused by the deletion or corruption of a .DLL or a .NET file (module), usually caused by a virus, a malware or left over after uninstalling a program or application. What you should generally do is to first uninstall the application for the smartscanner, then reinstall it.

The programs usually come with the needed modules. If still it does’t clear the issue, try to back up your files then have a system restore if you accidentally removed it (best done on SAFE MODE) or download the missing file from Microsoft download page. 

Do not download the file anywhere as it might carry something else aside the program. If you are successful try to update your antivirus and also install a registry scanner or you can use the System File checker that comes with the OS ( I prefer to use Ccleaner).
