Hello friends,

There is a problem with my dead rising 2 English txt file.

The game has an English text file that allows the game to generate English words such as instructions and subtitles of the game.

But suddenly it was lost from the data file in my local c hard disk application where the game was located.

How can I recover all the English txt file data?

Thanks and Regards,

Trevor John.

Hi Trevor,

If the cause of the loss is a virus, then the file is recoverable. The first thing you should do is to neutralize the virus out of your computer by an antivirus. After removing the virus, go to the location folder of the TXT file the go to Tools in the menu bar then select folder options.

Then, click into View tab and enable show hidden folders. Then click ok. Then go back to the location of the missing file. Check every hidden folder in the location of the missing file. If you find it, open the hidden folder, there must be the missing TXT file. Cut and paste the TXT file to its original location then delete the hidden folder.

That's it! Hope it'll help.

If you still have your installer, depending on your version, you can probably restore the file by uninstalling and reinstalling the game. First, backup your game progress or saved sessions. The following are the default saved locations for Steam and non-Steam version of Dead Rising 2:

  • For non-Steam – C:\Users\[username]\Documents\My Games\Dead Rising 2\saves
  • For Steam – [Steam folder]\userdata\[user-ID]\45740\remote

Once you locate the save folder, back up the folder to a new location. After this, download the free version of Revo Uninstaller and install. Once installed, start Revo then select Dead Rising 2 among the applications and click “Uninstall.” Follow the normal uninstall process. When uninstall is complete, click “Scan” to scan your computer for any leftover files and delete everything it finds.

This removes everything the program created on your computer. When it is finished, exit Revo then install Dead Rising 2 back. Once installed, copy the backed up folder back to the default save location. According to one user, you cannot copy the saved files from the old non-Steam version to the save location of the new Steam version.

If you want to try the new Steam version, download Dead Rising 2 on Steam. It supports Windows XP, Windows Vista, and Windows 7. It requires 2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo or equivalent AMD Athlon X2 or faster processor; 2 GB RAM; NVIDIA GeForce 8800GTS, ATI Radeon HD 3850, or better video card; Microsoft DirectX 9.0c; and 8.5 GB free space.
