Smartphone cannot detect the Bluetooth name but can detect the Computer name

My computer is a Dell Inspiron with an OS of Windows 7 Home Basic. I renamed my Bluetooth device but when I plugged my smartphone in my computer, it can only detect the computer name, but not the bluetooth name when searching for any Bluetooth devices. What is weird is that my iPad 2 can detect and display the bluetooth name of my computer.

Before, my computer's name was the same as with its bluetooth name. However, when I changed the latter, my smartphone can only detect the computer's name.

Can someone please assist me?

Hello Aldain,

It sounds strange because a change of name cannot make the bluetooth device not to be discoverable. Instead of using the computer and the ipad to search for the phone using bluetooth, try the other way round. Search the laptop and the ipad using the phone and see if they will be found.

Have you ensured that the bluetooth on your phone is on? And also check to ensure that you have made it discoverable by other devices under the bluetooth settings. Because of the bluetooth is off and the discoverable by other devices option is off, then you will find it no matter how hard you try to search.
