Please tell me how do I open .m1v files on Mac OS

I have some .m1v files in my computer, but I can't seem to find a software to open them with.

I assumed these are video files and tried several players, but none worked.

Can you help me and tell me how do I open .m1v files on Mac?

If it is something complicated, please provide me with step by step instructions.

Hi Tony!

First of all, be careful with the files you don't know their origin, they might be dangerous or harmful for your system. If you know for sure the file isn't dangerous, you should try double-clicking on it and see what program your computer suggests for opening it.

If not, you can open it using Windows Media Player or other media players. Most of the times, these files contain only text, so you might want to try opening them with Notepad or other text editors.

Another option that you have is to convert the file into another format. For this, you can use any free online convertor and then, depending on what format the file becomes, you open it using the program that suits it.
