Player v4.0.1 not installable on 64bit Win7 core i5 system

I did try to install the latest VMware Player v4.0.1 on a 64bit Win7 Pro system that installs on a 64bit core i5 computer.

Of course, CPU-Z appears EM64T and "Intel Virtualization Technology" is allowed in BIOS and appears as VT-X in CPU-Z.

But at the closing stages of the installation process a popup shows with the following error message (view attached image):

VMware Error

VMware-player-4.0.1-528992free_setup

The MSI 'D:tempvmware-1325947177vmware-player.msi' failed.

                                                                               OK

Hi,

Here are some basic steps that might help:

1.    Restart your computer

2.    Make sure to log in as an administrator

3.    Check your firewall or security settings or disable it for the sake of downloading

4.    If you the steps 1 to 3 will not work, try to install VMware Player version 5.0.1 (which is the latest version by the way)

Click on this to go directly to the download page.
