OCS 2007 R2 Client Installation Failure

Hi,

I faced a problem when I try to install OSC 2007 R2. While I try to install an error message shown. Error message says:

“Office Communicator 2007 R2 installation status is: 1642”. After clicking the OK button, the installer then backs out the install and quits. Below is the log file from the install.

OCS 2007 R2 Client Installation Failure

Hi,

Error number 1642 indicates that upgrade can’t be installed by the Windows Installation services since the programs that needed the upgrade may be have been missing, or the upgrades are possibly for a different version of the program. Verify that programs that need upgrade exists on your system and that you have correct upgrade version.

Use another installation package instead.

OCS 2007 R2 Client Installation Failure

Hi Shane M Heck,

 

This problem is faced very often, and from my and others experience I would suggest to check the following.

First of all you have to be sure that you are installing the correct version, i.e 64bit version.

In case the version is the right one, then probably you have to check if there MS Lync is already installed on your PC.
