To remove the Microsoft Office upload center icon from the notification area, first of all, right click on the icon of upload center and click on Settings.

A window will appear, again click on the Settings option in the toolbar.
Microsoft Office Upload Center Settings dialog box will appear. Uncheck the ‘Display icon in notification area’ option, if checked. Click on the ‘OK’ button and close both the dialog box and the window.
