You can enable BitLocker Drive Encryption on your laptop without a TPM chip. Hold Windows key and R and on the command screen type gpedit.msc and press ok. Click on Windows Components, then BitLocker Drive Encryption and Operating System Drives. Now select the option Require Additional Authentication at Startup. Now press enables after selecting the Allow BitLocker without a Compatible TPM option. Click on ok to complete it.

For turning on BitLocker on the Operating System drive, you need to go to the BitLocker Drive Encryption on System and Security in Control panel and turn it on. Now follow the rest of the wizard. At the end restart your computer.
