Hello, I am going to explain about the exchange 2003 retention policy. The Policy refers to the time that Exchange can keep content stored in the server database even after it gets edited. If content gets edited and it is a part of the Retention Policy, then a copy of content is stored in the server database under a separate folder. The below image shows the principles of retention that are applied by Exchange 2003 and the above versions.
