Laptop Monitor has strange zig zag lines

Hi,

I am a new laptop user. I use the laptop to watch movies and gaming but since a few days my laptop monitor is giving me trouble. It shows a dark, zigzag picture. When I move the lid back and forth it seems to work fine but after some time, it goes back to the initial state. Is there any software(graphic) problem or it's a hardware problem? Can I fix it at home?

Hey,

I need to know some information about your laptop to be specific:

1. Which Laptop brand/model do  you use?

2. Did you hit your laptop (monitor) with something hard recently?

Ok. Since you got a laptop which I had my hands on, I think I have a clue how to solve this issue. Check your RAM if it's connected properly in it's slot. The RAM slot must be under the laptop somewhere. The picture below may help you finding RAM.

Just remove the screws and there should be the RAM. Remove the RAM and place it back again.

I tried replacing the RAM, but it didn't help. Is there any other way?

Then you should try to check your monitor connector. Check if it's connected properly.

Dear Clavent,

I can give you a solution for your laptop. Your problem that is you set up your Windows too quickly. When you setup your Windows, of course you need the upgraded setup software. If there is no problem with it, you can test your hardware.

Best of luck.
