My friend bought an iPhone few days ago, but now when he tries to load music on it and synced his iPhone it shows an unknown error occurred.
Do not understand what I can do for him, need solutions.

Tell your friend to check the last installation activity he did to his computer. If he only encountered this problem after installing a hardware or software, maybe this is the cause conflicts with his iTunes that is why he receives the error code 13014. If doing so still the error appears on his computer screen, check and make sure that his computer’s security protection, firewalls even his router configuration, it should be up-to-date and set-up properly.
If the problem persists, the possible solution is to uninstall iTunes application to your friend’s computer. Scan the computer’s whole system and make sure that you run registry clean utility to remove all unnecessary files left by uninstalled software. Then, install the iTunes.
Make sure that your Windows Registry is regularly scan, clean and updated to avoid experiencing this error again.

Make sure you are using a latest version of iTunes. If not update your iTunes to the newest available version
Try restarting iTunes, and even restarting your computer and your iPhone too
Try disabling your antivirus system and firewall on the computer.
If none of that fixes your problem you can turn off the Genius in iTunes by clicking the Genius bar and choose view > Hide Genius Sidebar
