Good day!

I think there is a problem with its driver. Did you try uninstalling your webcam's driver? If not, you may do so and search for the internet for the latest driver of your webcam. You may just use Google, type in the exact unit of your webcam and you can find tons of downloadable drivers for your webcam(just make sure it is SAFE).

If the webcam that has the problem is built-in to your laptop, you probably need to check the required or the supported operating systems for the webcam. Since you did not mention your operating system, the application that supposedly should start the webcam may not be compatible with your operating system. If you are using an HP laptop, visit HP Drivers and Downloads.

Enter your product number or click “Find now” to let the page detect your laptop for the correct model number. Go to the download page, select your operating system from the dropdown list, and download the correct driver for your webcam. Once downloaded, uninstall the current driver. Click Start, Control Panel, and then Add or Remove Programs. Select your webcam software from the list then click Uninstall or Remove to uninstall the application then restart the computer.

After booting, click Start, All Programs, Accessories, System Tools, and then Disk Cleanup. Select drive C then click OK. Check Setup Log Files and “Temporary files”, click OK, and then select Delete Files. Open Windows Explorer then navigate to the download folder. Double-click the webcam driver you just downloaded to install the software for your webcam. It should fix the problem.
