I have Illustrator CS3 installed in my computer. When I create a file and want to save it, I get an alert that an unknown error has occurred. I thought of saving in different file formats but still it doesn’t work. It’s either the alert or nothing. So I am seeking your advice experts. How can I solve this?

There might be several causes for this error, but you can try a couple of hints to solve them.
Try to delete your preferences. Go to Go, Home, Preferences and find the "Adobe Illustrator CS3" folder. In this folder there is the Preferences file, find it and delete it. Also, empty the trash when you are done. Restart the program and see if it works. Also, reset all custom preferences and close the program, then open it again.
You can also delete the settings folder, it will be recreated from scratch next time you open the program. When opening the program, hold down Shift + Command + Option + Control. Click Yes on the dialog box that appears and restart Illustrator.
Also, you can try uninstalling and reinstalling the program, with no custom installation, and see if it works.
