Hi there Menoca!

I see that you are having problems with your printer and getting that error message.

Below are some possible solutions to your concern:

1. Completely uninstalling the driver and installing  it again.

After the installation, click START > Printers and Faxes > Add a printer > Next on Add Printer Wizard dialog box > Local printer attached to this computer > uncheck Automatically detect and install my Plug and Play printer > Next > Click Use the following port > LPT1: (Recommended printer port) > Next.

Under Manufacturer list select HP > Printer list, select HP deskjet 990c > Apply and then OK. Try using  your printer.

2. Another solution would be to create a new user profile. This works for some, this solution might work for you too.

3. Another solution I found, is searching the hard disk for spoolsv.exe which should be located on Windowssystem32 and in update service packs. Delete only the spoolsv.exe file and the try to print again.

If you are having difficulty locating this file you can use the Search tool of your Windows XP. Start >Search >type spoolsv.exe
