My brother who is a computer engineer blocked my Facebook and chat room site which I use to access from my laptop.

I tried searching for the host file in Windows directory, but its blank. There is no file in the directory. Last time I got access by replacing that file with another same file, which my friend sent me. This time there's no such file to replace. I also tried checking in Internet explorer options but no site is blocked there. I am unable to access Facebook and not able to login to my Facebook account.

Is there any trick by which I could access those blocked sites. I am using internet explorer on windows vista.

Connection: LAN which is connected to my brothers desktop also.

He can see my chat logs also I don't know how.

Can anyone help me?

FaceBook Blocked And Spy Software

Hello! Thaddeus,

Sounds like your brother doesn’t want you to get on Facebook as much as you want. From the sound of things, it looks like your brother is using a program to block your computer from accessing Facebook. This is rather hard to detect because it will also stay hidden in the “Task Manager” Applications (Ctrl+Alt+Del) and Processes.

It also looks like your brother is using a keylogger to view your chat logs. I’m pretty sure he also knows all the passwords you use for different internet accounts, am I right?

Keyloggers have different special ways to reveal themselves by hitting certain keys assigned to them. You can even assign the “Windows” button plus a number, letter or function keys (F1 to F12).

Don’t worry there is a way to get around this. Here are a couple of solutions that may help you out:

  1. Reboot your computer and enter “Safe Mode with Networking”. This will depend on the OS you are using, a simple search can give you the right button while your computer is restarting to choose this option. Go ahead and try to access Facebook in this mode. If you are able to access Facebook then it is certain that a hidden application is running while in normal mode that stops you from visiting the Web site.
  2. Check if your brother set up a proxy that is designed to not allow certain websites from loading on your computer.
  3. Try disconnecting your brother physically by unplugging his LAN cable from the router, switch or modem, whichever you are using and try to access it again. This is to determine if he is doing this through your local network.
  4. Try using a different browser such as Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox, I recommend that you use these and not Internet Explorer for regular surfing. They are safer and faster.
  5. Visit a proxy site that lets you enter the URL of the website you want to visit and see if you can access it from there, this is a good way to bypass anything that messes with your IP that you have no control of.
  6. Scan your computer for viruses using your antivirus program. Make sure your antivirus is up to date. Do automatic updates whenever you can.
  7. Search the internet for Keylogger Detectors, install the program and run it to see if it detects anything. Some of these Keylogger Detectors have a destroy feature with it, if not proceed to the next solution.
  8. Download a Spybod Search and Destroy program that is updated with the most current keyloggers and run it. It should be able to detect and remove any harmful threats in your computer.
  9. Double check the “hosts” file and add “#” at the front of the line that has “www.FaceBook.com” in it. You mentioned you did this, but anyway make sure you went to WINDOWS then System32 then driversetchosts.
  10. Lastly, you can do a system restore to a restore point that your Facebook was accessible.

Good luck with this, I hope my solutions help.

Also, be good to your brother so he won’t do this again in the future.

Surf with moderation.

Keep me posted!

You may be unable to access your Facebook account for several reasons, and therefore it is important to be aware of the activities that you use your account with to the able to find the right reason as to why you cannot be able to access your account. Facebook accounts have been reported for violations of the company policy, and that being the major reason as to why many accounts end up being blocked. Some of these reasons include:

  • Repeated prohibited behavior even after a user has been warned of continuing with that behavior.
  • Advertising and promoting inappropriate items on Facebook.
  • Use of fake names and impersonation.

The above-mentioned are just some of the activities that may lead your account to be blocked, and therefore you will need to review the activities you carried and establish what is the cause in your case.
