If a hard disk has SMART is it still necessary to do a wd disk sector check for example using chkdsk or is there a better way that takes advantage of SMART?
Can SMART help with a wd disk sector check on a drive?
First you download a software called Data Lifeguard for Windows. On the main program screen ,there are two windows, at the top window you will see the driver on your system that are available for testing. The model number, serial number and capacity number of each driver will be displayed. At the bottom window the partition information for the selected drive will be displayed also. You can go to the link and download the Data Lifeguard Diagnostic for Windows:
