Hi Dansvsdavid,

  • Upgrading single core to dual core needs little technical person to do so. It requires a savvy person on a computer to perform some various tasks. Here’s why;
  • Replacing Single Cord to Dual Core.
  • First headache;
  • Possible malfunction of the device once parts are removed and replaced due to electrical shortage, this might fry the whole computer.
  • Second headache;
  • The software updates, you need to look for specific software that doesn’t have compatibility issues with computer and the new hardware install.
  • Solutions:
  • Open your computer, look for specific hardware needs to replace in the side panel of your motherboard. Including the fan if needed but if it’s still good, then let it be on it’s position.
  • Software updates is needed, Go to Control Panel, System, Hardware and Device Manager
  • Look for the new Dual core installed, manually look for the driver in the utility screen. Reboot computer and hope this works.
  • You don't need to replace the whole motherboard for this.
  • A computer technical is advisable of doing this stuff as this is a little tricky and needs attention details of parts and components inside.

Hello David,

  • You can actually upgrade your processor by means of many ways….
  • But upgrading this will make a possible headache for the future to come.
  • If you wonder, "I really want to upgrade it".
  • Well, i highly  recommend  you to buy a new processor that are compatible to your motherboard and has higher GHz  than your using now.
  • Upgrading the processor is also known as  OVERCLOCKING can only adjust your processor in a point of 0.5-1 GHz.
  • But yes, this really help the system run faster BUT it can also lead to a malfunction of the system that might corrupt the program.
  • Overclocking it will run the system to its indefinable time-frame of speed and run-time of the programs.
  • Sometimes, this will overheat your processor that thus make DAMAGE to your HARDWARE.(includes Motherboard, processor, RAM, and Graphic Card)
  • IF you want to overclock it, you might need to replace some Hi-end HEAT SINK at the top of your processor caused this probably 100% overheat your processor and hardware.
  • Overclocking can be found only if your Motherboard has an overclocking set-up in BIOS.

Unlike with a normal desktop computer where you can easily upgrade or replace the processor, in a laptop, upgrading the processor is not that easy. Also, it is generally not recommended to replace or upgrade the processor of a laptop because of the technicalities involved. Purchasing a new processor for a laptop is also not that easy.

Instead of upgrading the laptop’s processor, it would be better to just focus on upgrading the memory by adding more RAM to your machine. Also, bear in mind that the expense or cost of replacing the motherboard and the processor basically exceeds the cost of replacing the laptop. To make it simple, replacing these components is more expensive than buying a replacement for your laptop.
