Hello,

All about opening ods files in mac. It seems like there is a problem while opening an ods file in mac operating system. The error says unable to open file, what would be the main reason of this problem? I hope you can help me resolve and provide a solution regarding this matter.

Hi Allison!

Maybe the main reason why you cannot open your files is you cannot download it properly. By installing program such as OpenOffice to open the ODS file or convert it online with a site such as Zamzar. If you don't want to bother with that, however, you can install a free plugin to open ODS and other OpenDocument files with Microsoft Office.

I hope the following instruction will help you to open your files so that you can open ODS Files:

1 .Download OpenXML/ODF Translator Add-in for Office or Sun ODF Plugin. Double-click the EXE file and follow the instructions to install.

2. Open a blank spreadsheet in Microsoft Excel.

3. Click the "File" menu.  then click "Open." Under the "Files of type" menu, select "All files".

4. Locate the ODS file and double-click it to open the file in Microsoft Excel.
