Wireless mouse is working intermittently

It’s true that wireless mice are a little difficult to use. It takes some time before getting the hang of it. It is a common problem that wireless mice and even wireless keyboards freezes from time to time and there are several reasons this happens along with it, several ways to get it to work properly again. Some people go back to using regular mice and keyboards because this problem keeps arising. So I made a list of solutions that you can try out to get your wireless mouse to work again.

Here are the solutions that you can try to troubleshoot your intermittent problem with the wireless mouse:

1. Disconnect the receiver (dongle) and reconnect it to a different port and see if the mouse cursor responds. Give it a few seconds to reconfigure or resynchronize itself. If this doesn’t solve the problem, move on to the next solution.
2. It can also be a simple problem like the mouse pad or the surface you are trying to use your mouse on. Some mice are picky about the surface they properly work on. Try different surfaces and see if the connection is much better this time.
3. Use your wireless mouse on a different computer or laptop and see if it works properly, if it does then it could be the mouse itself with the problem.
4. Some wireless mice have a “Connect” button that you can press to reconnect itself to a better signal from the receiver. Try pressing this a few times if it makes any difference to its performance.
5. Are your drivers up to date? If not, go ahead and update the drivers that your mouse uses and reboot your computer. See if this solves your problem.
6. Make sure that there is nothing between the mouse the receiver that may affect the signal it sends and receives. It could also be another wireless device nearby that uses the same frequency your wireless mouse uses (cordless phones, etc.)
7. Try taking out the battery of your wireless mouse. Wipe it with a dry piece of cloth and re-insert the battery. See if this makes any difference. 
8. How long have you been using the wireless mouse? It could be that your battery needs to be changed. Replace or recharge the batteries of your wireless mouse and wait a few seconds. Try using it to see if it responds properly.
9. This could also be a power issue. To fix this, go to your “Device Manager”. To do this right-click on “My Computer”, Click “Properties”, then Click “Hardware”. Choose and Click “Universal Serial Bus Controllers”. Fro there double-click on “USB Root Hub”. Click on the “Power Management” and uncheck any save power options you see there. Do this for all USB Root Hubs your computer or laptop has.
10. If it still doesn’t work properly, click on “Start” then enter “devmgmt.msc” into the “Run” box without quotations. Click on the “+” or expand the section of “Mice and other pointing devices”. Select your mouse from the list and “Uninstall”. Click “Action”, then select “Scan for Hardware Changes”. Follow any prompts that would pop-up.
11. Some wireless mice have a micro-switch under the mouse. Check if this button is released. It is usually a small button that can be pressed by using a pin or pen. If it is pressed down, release it by pressing it again.
12. If at this point nothing still works, contact your mouse’s manufacturer and get help through their customer support. They are obligated to help you especially if you have a warranty.
