Configuration of SMplayer in Linux Mint 13 for HD playback?

I have an Intel GMA 495 graphic chip on my laptop and I am experiencing troubles with HD video playback on it using Linux, while on Windows everything works fine. I have the most update version of drivers and X.org. Are there any opportunities for fine-tuning the video player to improve the performance?

Configuration of SMplayer in Linux Mint 13 for HD playback?

Hi!

If you are in Linux Mint 13, then you are using mplayer under smplayer. Smplayer is only a graphical user interface for mplayer. When you are in windows and if you have the latest smplayer, you are actually using mplayer2. Now, you can't update mplayer to mplayer2 in linux mint using the default distribution packages. You can install mplayer by downloading or cloning the git file from the website of mplayer2. Here is the link to the download page mplayer2.

I suggest you use the file mplayer2-build.git since it will also update some libraries used by mplayer.

You can clone the git file by typing this in terminal.

git clone git://git.mplayer2.org/mplayer2-build.git

Just be sure you have git in linux mint. You can install it from the repositories.
