DivX – Network Security Problem Facing

Hello experts

I have found problems using DIVX and a small number of other programs due to an annoying security error that shows and says: 

(Debugger detected – please close it down and restart. Windows NT users:

Please note that having the WinIce/SoftIce service installed means that you are running a debugger!) 

In your 'windowssystem32drivers' directory there might be a file named 'amdfix.sys'. I renamed it to amdfix.sys.bak. Rebooted the system and everything is working fine now. I have no clue how it got there but I don't get the protection error anymore.

This had to be one of the biggest pain the problems I have had. I was ready to wipe the whole system. I hope this helps anyone who might be having the same problem. I have read that some DVDX Copy users have been getting the same error.

I need your suggestions. Please help.

Hallo Johnnie,

The pX and the other programs that are resulting to the errors may be old programs that are defunct, and therefore you will need to try using the windows installer cleanup utility to check and see if there are remains of those programs on your computer.

Another thing you should try is using the Revo Uninstaller utility to remove those programs. You can get Revo uninstaller here. The following are the steps on how to use it:

• First you will have to download the Revo Uninstaller.
• And then you will extract the ZIP file to a folder and then you will execute revouninstaller.exe from there.
• You can use one of the following two ways to uninstall the programs with Revo Uninstaller:
  • You can choose the application in the list of installed applications and after that press the Uninstall button in the toolbar.
  • Or you can instead just right-click the application and then click the Uninstall command in the menu that is displayed, and then follow the instructions.
