MS Lync Server connectivity issue with MS SQL 2008 R2 ?

Install the Topology Builder first ; then create your Lync environment. When you are finished building your Lync environment, publish the configuration to the Central Management Store and then deploy the server. Each server will look into the CMS to decide which components are needed to be installed.

Start by selecting the option, “Install or Update Lync Server System”. Install the local configuration store by selecting, “Install Local Configuration Store”. That will install the SQL 2008 Express with a replica of the CMS database. Once it is done installing, select the “Setup or Remove Server Components”. Choose the method which should be used to gather the configuration file. As long as you can reach the CMS, leave the default option checked (which is “Retrieve Directly from the Central Management Store”). If you are installing with the Edge Server, choose “Import from a file”. You can request and assign certificates after everything is installed. Just press the “Request” button, then “Assign”.

Start the Lync services.

You can check if all the services are running by selecting the “Check Service” button and you will see if they all have the started state.

Remember, whenever you make a change to the topology builder, you will need to run the setup again and select “Install or Update Lync Server System”.
