Set up Windows XP without its serial key

Hello,

I have a Windows XP bootable CD. This is service pack 2 edition. I want to set up Windows XP with this CD.

But a problem occurred. I lost my serial key for this CD.

Right now I am not accessible to shop where I can buy a new CD.

Is there any way to setup windows XP with that CD without entering the serial key?

Can anyone help me to overcome this issue?

Set up Windows XP without its serial key

Hello,

 It is possible to set the XP with this CD but you need to do some work before starting the set up. First you need to copy the entire CD in your any hard drives. Then you need to enable the view of hidden files in your computer. You can enable view hidden files from the folder options. You get the folder option either in control panel or from the tools of your computer.

Then go to the 1386 named folder. Find out the setup.ini named file. By going in the properties of this file mark out the read only option. Now open this file. In the bottom of file you find a line like Pid=55274xxx, replace xxx with 270, save the file and close all. Now make a bootable CD or DVD with the total windows folder. You can set up the XP without putting the serial key with new CD.

That was cool Bro !

I also got the same problem. I bought the Win Xp cd from a friend of mine with cd key printed on a small piece of paper. When i got home i lost the cd key paper. I called back my friend for the cd key but he doesn't have it. I searched all over the internet for solving this problem but none of them worked. Finally i got here and found the solution.
