What are the various possible usages of the router that support to monitor network traffic in a LAN and how does this happen given that a router's main use is scalability?

Possible usages of the router that supports to monitor network traffic

 

Hello Derick Karpoff,

Basically the primary objective of the router is to perform routing and path allocation (choosing best possible path). But other than this these routers can also be configured for some secondary objectives as well. Network traffic monitoring is one of them. As router acts as a gateway for all of your incoming and outgoing traffic so, it is the best place to monitor the traffic (consider this a bank security guard without any weapons who only monitors all the incoming and outgoing users).
